Our Therapeutic Services

Physiotherapy

Our Physiotherapists combine their knowledge, experience and continuing training with our equipment to offer the most appropriate therapies, tailored to the needs of each patient.

The goal of Physiotherapy is to improve cardio-respiratory endurance, to increase movement of joints and muscular strength, to improve muscular flexibility and body balance, to treat disorders of muscular tone and muscular sense and to correct walking patterns so as to improve our patients’ quality of life.

Robotic Rehabilitation

Robotic Rehabilitation uses the most advanced technology available in Rehabilitation. Diaplasis features one of the best equipped and modern departments of Robotic Rehabilitation in Greece, equal to existing state-of-the-art departments worldwide.

Hocoma® Lokomat®is a gait training robotic device with robotic gait orthosis that is comprised of two robotic lower limbs, one for each leg of the patient. Motion sensors are attached in the exoskeleton which provide feedback to the device, thus mobilizing the legs of the patient. This way, the patient can achieve a more natural gait pattern right away, while minimizing the necessary duration of the rehabilitation program.

Hocoma® Armeo®Spring is the state-of-the-art robotic medical device for the functional rehabilitation of the arm and hand. It consists of a robotic arm that adapts to the upper limb and assists the movement performed by the patient. It also includes a system of sensors for recording the muscular power of the hand, allowing a more functional and targeted movement in a 3D environment, integrating the audio-visual stimuli that patient receives from the device (biofeedback).

Hocoma® Erigo® is a robotic device used for the mobilization of lower extremities in the very early stages of Rehabilitation, thus leading to an improved cardiovascular stability. Erigo combines gradual verticalization with robotic movement therapy to ensure the necessary safety for the stabilization of patients in an upright position.

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists assess the level of functionality, mobility and sensation of the upper limbs, the cognitive level of the patients as well as their environment. The goal of the Occupational Therapy is to enable patients to become as independent as possible in their everyday lives. In a specially designed simulation room, the patients are re-trained in functions of upper limbs and in various self-care activities such as dressing, personal care, feeding, transportation, etc.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy is provided mostly to patients who have suffered a Stroke or Traumatic Brain Injury, have experienced disorders of the Nervous System or have been through laryngectomy or tracheotomy.

The therapists of “Diaplasis” apply all modern Speech Therapy methods and techniques with the assistance of computers and Visi - Pitch ΙV, which is the most widely used therapy tool for Speech Therapy in U.S.A.

Isokinetic Dynamometer

Diaplasis is equipped with the state-of-the-art, multi-mode computerized dynamometer, Biodex® System 4 Pro. The use of the isokinetic dynamometer plays a significant role in the muscular strengthening both in the preoperative and postoperative stages, as well as in the recovery from musculoskeletal injuries. Moreover, it is used to increase muscular performance in patients with limited activity due to chronic conditions and to generally improve their level of physical fitness. It is also possible to measure various parameters of muscular performance such as strength, endurance and speed.

Hydrotherapy

Our department of Hydrotherapy is staffed with highly trained Hydrotherapists, who perform personalized rehabilitation programs in our modern and fully-equipped, indoor, heated swimming pool, which meets all the latest specifications. It includes, among others, hydro massage system, reverse swimming mechanism and monitoring windows, which help the therapists to monitor the patient’s activity in the water. Electronic lifters are used for the easy and safe access of patients with mobility deficits.

Psychological support

Patients who are treated in Diaplasis face various disorders or injuries, which usually result in a range of psychological effects and challenges (such as anxiety, fear, distress, dependence on others, deterioration of their quality of life). Our Psychologists provide ongoing support to patients, for them to understand and address successfully their medical condition. Additionally, an intervention is performed to their family environment, so that family and caregivers can properly support the patient.

Dietetics & Nutrition

The Nutritionist of our clinic carries out a complete assessment to each patient, where he gathers extensive dietary, biochemical and clinical data. Patients are provided with tailored nutrition plans which are adapted to their medical conditions, while each patient is guided to follow the principles of a balanced diet and adopt a proper nutritional behavior.

Spasticity Department

The Spasticity department provides patients, who suffer from Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Cord Injury, Cerebral Palsy or Traumatic Brain Injury, with proper interventions to minimize the symptoms of spasticity. Personalized sessions of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy are combined with Botox® injections, aiming at reducing pain and at making feasible the proper application of splints. Moreover, treatment seeks to improve patients’ functionality and to enhance their personal hygiene skills, thus improving their quality of life.

Osteoporosis Department

In our Osteoporosis department, the condition of each patient is thoroughly assessed. Our medical team evaluates the risk of potential fractures, investigates and records the predisposing and risk factors of Osteoporosis. Subsequently, our doctors plan an appropriate intervention for the prevention and/or treatment of osteoporosis.

Gait Analysis - Foot Pressure Mapping

The Foot Pressure Mapping System analyzes pressure distribution on a patient’s foot in a variety of stationary or ambulatory actions. The purpose of Gait Analysis is to examine and assess foot or leg deformities or other conditions related to posture or gait such as Flat Feet, Pes Cavus, Heel Spur, Metatarsalgia, Hallux Valgus, Achille Tendinitis etc. The results of the analysis enable the manufacturing of special orthotic insoles, adapted to each patient’s condition and needs.

Acupuncture Department

In “Diaplasis” specially trained physicians perform traditional Chinese acupuncture adapted to European standards. The method offers a significant analgesic action as well as successful stress management. Furthermore, extensive experience has proved that it lacks any side effects.
